I'm like that DJ you heard when you were a kid, and you said to yourself, "Whoo, that's so...I can't believe...whooo!"

So here it is, my one chance to throw a couple words your way before all is left to your judgment. The mixes that I record are done in the privacy of my home with no one around. Because of this atmosphere it is highly unlikely that I will be featuring any jammin' house or trance mixes on waxdj, but there's always a chance. Of course, if I was in front of a crowd my mixing would take a drastic turn. As fate would have it, I am never recorded when mixing live. So, the mixes that are featured by me on waxdj are the products of my wondering imagination and the themes that surface through the serendipitous moments I experience while kicking out a mix in seclusion. Hence, my mixes have a more personalized sound with emphasis on the music and the idea behind the mix instead of a technical chop and cut approach. I hope you find my sound unique and enjoyable. Thanks for listening, and don't ya forget to drop a line :)

This mix was produced in July of 2006 in preparation for Together: Iowa's annual charity fund-raiser. It was a fantastic Midwestern night below the stars, swimming through soft breezes from the North. This mix captures much of the essence of my performance.

Here it is, my latest invention: breaks and downtempo blended through atmospheric bliss. This mix is the product of my preparations for M.A.G.E. III these last few weeks and from playing at the event. I hope you enjoy this adventure into a new realm for me as this is the first mix I've made with breaks. The first tracks I used were acquired over the years, and only recently have they come to fruition. Wax the poetic with me on this new trip.

So here it is. My fastest and hardest mix yet. I realize there may be some moments where the tracks go too long, but I wanted to ensure that when the mixes did occur they were at the most explosive moments to execute them. That leads me to the sage-like conclusion that it is just as skillful to not act as to act. Whatever, right? Hope ya dig :)

When caught by an idea I ran with it hard and fast; this mix was the product of a four hour plan and slam session that was set off by the idea of the intro, Spanish Tribal Techno, one Rabbitt In The Moon track I love to death but hardly use, and Jim Morrison. It shares a couple tracks with Retroactive Signals, but the complete product is much harder. It's time to kill your television!

This is the first and only mix I have produced that was planned from step one to finish. On one end, it was a very satisfying experience to produce a mix that flowed from beginning to end with no unexpected occurences (or slipping beats). Yet, because I had rehearsed the mix several times and reworked the order of the tracks over a couple weeks by the time I was finished with it the mix seemed dry and without inspiration to me. Of course, I'm glad I took the time to create a mix with such preconception that used a number of tracks from years past with new tracks, and I'd like to hear what you, the virgin listener, think of the "product".

After producing Retroactive Signals, I wanted to do something that was more of the moment; a product of what I was listening to at the time. Hence, Soul Samples was born. This multi-genre journey is the product of jazz, ambient, house, tribal, trance, downbeat, and emo-rock rolled into one. It features music by Santana, Weather Report, Eno, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Claude Young, Avalanches, Air and a handful of other producers and musicians I'm learning to truly appreciate. A mix as this one is what I ideally want to produce on a more regular basis. Enjoy this inward sound journey.

I wanted to make a mix that was a trip in a bottle with the theme of a mild-mannered couple and their one crazy experience together. It's damn hard to tell a story with others' words and music, but I enjoyed this challenge for the choice of tracks and the subtle displays of skill involved. Please, don't over look this diamond in the rough. It's sure to grow on you.
